Physiological changes during pregnancy lead to alteration of posture, balance, and gait. The body's centre of gravity moves forwards due to the growing fetus and enlarged breasts during pregnancy. Your abdominal muscles become stretched as the baby grows. These muscles have the reduced ability to contract and keep your lower back in proper alignment.
The main culprit of all these changes is the hormone relaxin. Relaxin is a reproductive hormone that is produced by your ovaries and placenta. It loosens and relaxes your muscles, joints, and ligaments. It also helps prepare your body for delivery, allowing the pelvis to widen to allow fetus to exit the birth canal.

Although relaxin is so beneficial for the growing fetus it leads to instability in your spine causing pregnancy pains.
Common Pregnancy Discomfort:
Low back pain
Pelvis girdle pain syndrome
Hip Pain
Pubic Pain e.g Lightening Crotch
Diastasis recti (abdominal separation)
Leg problems
Sciatica
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Urinary Incontinence
Chiropractic care can promote a healthy pregnancy by working on the muscles, joints, and ligaments. It provides stability and a better functioning of the spine and pelvis.
